Indian students again favoring Australia for education

After incidents of attack on Indians in Australia, there was a drop in number of students applying foruniversities there. But now the country is again becoming a sought-after destination for education.
According to the recent survey, Indian students applying in the Australian universities has increased 21 percent during the last six months this year.
More than 3,700 students have applied for Australian visas this year.
Peter Speldewinde, assistant secretary in the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, said, “The number of student visa applications is rebounding, that category is up significantly”.
“The people are placing their trust in the country and willing to send their children to study in the country. They are generally positive about Australia”.
Reason for rise
Increased attack over the Indians adversely affected the bilateral relations between two nations. Moreover after the coverage of those incidents by Indian media, students became bit hesitant in migrating.
This hit the education industry in the country, as India is the third-largest provider of permanent skilled migrants to Australia. China and Britain being only countries ahead of India.
As a result, Australian immigration law relaxed some visa regulations from April 1 this year. The government assured a healthy environment in the country.
After the assaults, there was 30 percent drop seen in Indians migrating to Australia for further studies.
To cope up with this, the government increased the age limit of those applying for visa. Australian educational institutions also engaged themselves in advertising in Indian media.
